Why you need a Life Vision plan and how to create one

Why you need a life vision plan (and how to create one)

What does your life look like at this very moment? What about the work you do, is it fulfilling? Does it make you happy and provide enough income for your family? Do you have a vision in mind of the life you want to live?

My sincere hope would be that you are living your dream life, but for most of us that life remains just a dream.

And why is that? Is it because we are not smart enough or talented enough to create and design the perfect life, or simply that we haven’t taken the time to actually figure out just what it is we really want in life.

We get comfortable living the life we think we were meant to have and we never push ourselves to truly discover what we were meant to do on this earth. We get stuck in a rut and just don’t know how to get ourselves out.

Do you feel that way?

Life is meant to be lived, and you are meant to enjoy what you do each and every day, but do you even know what that is?

If your life feels like you are stuck in the same place and you can’t figure out how to get moving again, then you need to create your Life Vision. In order to move your life in the direction you want to go, you need to begin by understanding what it is you truly want.

What is a Life Vision

A life vision is a detailed description of where you see yourself and your life in the future. It can go as far into the future as you want but works best if you only go out about three years.

This allows you to think about how your life could change in the future and gives enough time for the possibility of these changes to happen.

The great thing about creating a Life Vision is that you don’t have to know how you are going to make these changes in your life, you simply have to know what you want.

The magic comes from writing your vision out onto paper so that your mind can begin to formulate a plan to bring your vision to life.

Why you need to create a Life Vision

When you think about your life three years from now, do you want to be in exactly the same place you right now? Are you content with your life just as it is now or would you like it to be better?

If your life isn’t exactly where you wish it were, know that you can absolutely change it, but you have to take action for that change to happen.

And the first action you need to take is to create a Vision plan of all the things you want in your life.

“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.”
—Napoleon Hill

Change happens much more quickly in our lives when we spend time getting to know what we really want.

Things that you never thought would be possible can begin to manifest in your life when you start to identify how you truly want to live.

So if you are ready to begin changing your life, let’s take a look at the simple steps for creating your personal Life Vision.

How to create your personal Vision for your life

1. Grab your favorite pen and notebook

Start by creating your Life Vision on good ole’ fashioned notebook paper or in your favorite journal. There is something magical that happens when you let the words flow onto paper. It’s almost as if you are sending a signal directly into the Universe about your wants, needs, and wishes.

You can always transfer your thoughts and ideas to your computer later, but if you don’t typically write out your thoughts on paper, this may be a good time to give it a try.

2. Go someplace you feel inspired

Get away from your office, get out of your home and go someplace your feel inspired. Go to a park, sit outside, breath in the fresh air and let your mind begin to work. Take in a few deep breaths and clear your mind. Set the intention that you want to see your future self and all the possibilities life has to offer.

Is this required, not at all, but it can be very helpful to change scenery when you are working on creating a future vision for your life.

3. Write out where you see yourself 3 years from now

Let me begin by saying that this is not a set in stone plan; this is a vision. You want to think about where you want to be three years from now. What type of job do you want? How much money do you want to make? What are your relationships like? What do you do for fun? Where do you travel?

There is no right or wrong way to create your vision. The key is to writing out all the big and wonderful things you would want in your life if you could wave a magic wand and create it.

Dream big! Write down things that you could never imagine achieving, places that you would never dream of going.

You don’t need to have any idea of how you could make these things happen; you just have to imagine them – and write them down.

Amazing things begin to happen when we put our vision down on paper. It opens your mind up to figuring out ways to make things happen.

If you never stop and create these visions, you may never get the chance to live the life of your dreams.

4. Look at it and add to it as often as possible

Your vision will change as you do and that is perfectly fine. As I mentioned before, your vision is not a set in stone plan, but a roadmap to help you begin to figure out where you want your life to go.

Once you create the vision, you should make a regular habit of looking at it and adding to it. When you have a new idea or something that you would love to do pops in your mind, write it down with the rest of your vision so you can see it and begin to subconsciously formulate a plan for how to achieve it.

If you don’t start thinking about it, it may never happen

Life is meant to be fun and exciting. That doesn’t mean that it’s not going to be stressful, it always will be. But if your life is not exactly where you would like it to be, the best way to change it is to begin to visualize what you want and where you want to go. Creating a life vision will help you to realize the possibilities of creating your best life.
